The Chariot
.
by Madhavendra Puri dasa (Paris, France)
Smell, taste and touch, hearing and sight,
Are famous for their appetite.
Pulling the cart, the five horses,
In this picture, are the senses.
Our body, in this image,
Is likened to the carriage.
The mind, meaning thought, will, feeling,
Are the reins the coach is holding.
The strong stallions go left and right,
Pulling forward, with no respite.
Ideally, the driver's role,
Is to keep them under control.
He is Reason, supposed to tell,
The final goal of the travel.
The spirit soul, called "embodied",
To a fate, is being carried.
