Dearest Srila Prabhupada,
Please accept our obeisances.
It is always a most difficult task to describe one’s appreciation for all the opportunities that you have presented to us.
The first problem is to understand the unlimited kindness and mercy that you have bestowed. Unlimited because you have provided one-and-all the opportunity to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krsna.
Way back, after visiting the first Sunday feast and speaking to your disciples, the world changed dramatically. Karma, reincarnation, God’s importance to life was abruptly brought into clear focus. The world changed dramatically and instantly. Trees and plants became living entities, life was again full of purpose, and deeply held anxieties evaporated into insignificance. All achieved by your kindness and grace.
As the years pass, your darshan is enjoyed over and over again through your priceless teachings, and our indebtedness to you has increased exponentially. Your example and association continues to nurture and fuel our fledgling Krishna consciousness. At every moment you reveal to us the futility of the material world while revealing the eternally attractive alternative of devotional service.
You destroyed our cynicism by saying what you do and doing what you say. Our hearts have filled with love, as you have never let us down. We are unable to give you anything because all that we have has been given to us by you.
When you were present before us your example provided us with enthusiasm beyond our dreams. Your example revealed that nothing is impossible in Lord Krsna’s service.
Our history sorrowfully reveals a lack of commitment to your mission. When will that day come, when we can achieve a miniscule amount of your unalloyed devotion that spurred you to board the Jaladutta; to spend long nights transcribing the epic Srimad Bhagavatam, while maneuvering through trying days managing an exploding spiritual movement?
So as always, we have no special insights on this holy day of Vyasa Puja in regards to your glory, so can only revert to our tarnished history of pleading for your mercy, as that is all that we are made of.
Your insignificant beggars,
