In the above letter to Gurudas Prabhu, George Harrison displays his sincere affection for an old friend who cares. Here is the perfect example of love among devotees, something we can surely all learn from. Gurudas Prabhu further comments in his beautiful book, By His Example, The Wit and Wisdom of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada:
"George Harrison displayed great respect for Srila Prabhupada. He bowed before Prabhupada at each of their meetings, even though he was never formally initiated. I witnessed in at least six of their meetings how George demonstrated so much love towards Prabhupada and how he was treated like a son in exchange.
"George was truly a spiritual person. He was my true friend. George was a real person, and when he could have been vain and filled with airs like many wealthy and idolized people, he was instead very unassuming. George was caring, sensitive, honest, a great conversationalist, deeply reflective, and spiced with a keen sense of humor. Because he often visited us, ate with us, and sang with us, he became our friend. His wife, Olivia, calls Shyamasundara, Mukunda, George, and me 'the old gang.'
"George not only supported us by his friendship but by his deeds as well, his many selfless services to Srila Prabhupada. He encouraged our 'Hare Krishna Mantra' and 'Govinda' recording projects from the beginning. Among so many other services, he financed Prabhupada's Krishna book, bought valuable slabs of exotic marble for our altars, and gave us Bhaktivedanta Manor."
